Samsung confirms the Galaxy Z TriFold is being discontinued

Samsung confirms the Galaxy Z TriFold is being discontinued

It was reported yesterday that we may be at the end of the road for the Galaxy Z TriFold, Samsung's first tri-fold phone. The company wasn't expected to restock it in South Korea after additional units were made available this week.

Samsung has now officially confirmed that it's discontinuing the Galaxy Z TriFold, starting with South Korea and eventually across all available markets.

It was nice knowing ya!

There hasn't been sustained availability ever since the Galaxy Z TriFold was first released in December last year. A few thousand units were made available once every couple of weeks, even though there was significant demand as the units would quickly sell out within minutes of being restocked.

A spokesperson for Samsung has confirmed to Bloomberg that the company is discontinuing the Galaxy Z TriFold in South Korea. It will also be discontinued in the United States once all available inventory there sells out. Expect a similar outcome in other markets where the device was sold.

The curtain has fallen on the Galaxy Z TriFold merely three months after it was first launched, but it's hardly surprising. Samsung had made it clear that it will only sell the device in very limited quantities in just a handful of markets.

Act now

It has also recently confirmed that there's no successor for the Galaxy Z TriFold in the pipeline for now. For all intents and purposes, the Galaxy Z TriFold was meant to prove a point that Samsung can make a device like this. With the point having been sufficiently made, no reason to keep a device around that it's probably not making any money on.
